A jam-packed week for the Ithaca/Weston girls basketball team began on Monday with a loss in Elroy against the Scenic Bluffs second place team, the Royall Panthers, by a final score of 53-24, with I/W falling to 2-9 overall.
Ithaca/Weston won plenty of matches but still came up just short in duals on the wrestling mast Thursday against Mauston/Necedah and Nekoosa/Port Edwards in Mauston.
A short-handed lineup was too much to overcome for the River Valley Blackhawks in a wrestling dual on Thursday night at Lancaster. R-V was able to fill only nine of 14 spots in the lineup and they fell by a final count of 57-12.
Reedsburg is on the verge of another outright dual meet regular season title on the wrestling mat as the Beaver boys improved to 5-0 in Badger Small competition on Friday by knocking off Stoughton and Sauk-Prairie, both at RAHS.
Reedsburg was at RAHS for the first of what is now only going to be two home meets in this gymnastics season on Thursday night, and the Beavers delivered some strong performances in a dual meet win over Sauk-Prairie. Reedsburg scored 124.5 team points compared to 117.6 for the Eagles.
Reedsburg was staring at a two-game road trip last week in boys basketball action with trips to Wisconsin Dells and Sauk-Prairie and it ended up being a tough week for the Beavers. Reedsburg experienced some struggles, especially on the offensive end, in a 60-47 loss at Wis. Dells and an 83-42 loss at Sauk in league play.
The River Valley girls came into last Tuesday night with a 2-1 record in SWC girls basketball and looking to stay near the top of the standings as they hosted title contender Platteville. Things didn’t go as hoped for the home team in an 82-46 loss as the Blackhawks suffered the second loss of the conference season.
The Badger Lightning girls hockey co-op took a two-game win streak into their Friday game and were on the verge of consecutive win number three but fell in the end, 3-2, against Brookfield Glacier at the Poppy Waterman rink in Lake Delton.
