Warmer weather means more people are heading outside to garden, clean up their properties or start improvement projects.

Be warned, though: Digging without checking first can result in injuries and repairs.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss improvements on Highway 12 (Wisconsin Dells Parkway) from Highway 13 in Wisconsin Dells to East Adams Street in Lake Delton, as well as the Highway 13 median west of the 12 intersection in Wisconsin Dells.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced that Sauk City Waterworks has been awarded a Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Public Health Sauk County, in partnership with Central Wisconsin Community Action Council and O’Connell Pharmacy, will host a vaccine clinic on Friday, April 5.

The clinic will run from noon to 3 p.m. at the Carnegie-Schadde Memorial Public Library, 230 Fourth Ave., Baraboo. This is not a library sponsored event.

The COLSAC III ferry, which operates seasonally to carry Highway 113 traffic across the Wisconsin River between Okee in Columbia County and Merrimac in Sauk County, has opened for 2024.

Gov. Evers recently signed a $6.9 million contract to resurface I-90/94 between Mirror Lake Bridge in Wisconsin Dells and Highway 33 in Portage. Preliminary work was scheduled to begin April 1.

Wisconsin may be dressed in white but much of the state is still reeling from last year’s drought.

The state’s southwestern and northeastern regions are still the most affected.

An unusually mild winter has green thumbs all the more eager to get outside. Experts warn, however, that starting too soon can be detrimental for your garden…and the world.

Transportation was one of themes of this month’s regular Sauk County Board meeting.

Board members reviewed numerous agenda items, but three were somewhat related in that they dealt with transportation and recreation on Sauk County roads.

Some money matters were on the agenda this month for the Sauk County Board of Supervisors.

A couple of items were related to software and equipment for various departments, though one pertained to pay for certain elected positions and another focused on care at the County Jail.
