Two locals graduate from UW-Oshkosh

Area residents are among the summer 2020 graduates from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Austin Estes of Reedsburg earned an associate degree in arts and science, while Jordan Moser of Hillpoint took home a degree in literacy.

Toastmasters to meet Oct. 15

The Reedsburg Toastmasters group will hold a Zoom gathering at 6:25 p.m. Oct. 15.

Due to COVID-19, the organization has moved its regular meetings to the website. Toastmasters is dedicated to providing entertainment and experience for those looking to improve their public speaking skills.

Reedsburg Utility donates to essential public services

The Reedsburg Utility Commission has dedicated itself to supporting public services due to coronavirus.

It has made Community Recharge funds available to support area relief efforts. It recently gave $4,000 to be distributed among the Reedsburg Fire Department, Reedsburg Police Department and Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service.

Reedsburg installs ballot box, encourages voter participation

The City of Reedsburg is readying for Election Day next month, and so far it seems that residents are eager to cast their ballots.

The city clerk’s office is encouraging adults to act soon if they want to vote before Nov. 3. What’s more, city staff has made efforts to make voting more convenient.

Loganville FD holds breakfast

The Loganville Area Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 11 at Loganville Village Hall, 130 West St.

Meals will cost $8 for adults, $4 for children under 10. Preschoolers eat for free.

Proceeds will go toward new department equipment.

Volunteers contribute to repainted crosswalk

The crosswalk between the Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Harvest Park is finished. Artist Laura Annis of Baraboo created the mural, which was funded by the Reedsburg Arts Committee. Twelve volunteers from the Reedsburg Public Works Department, Reedsburg Police Department and the Chamber helped finish the mural in six hours.

Ironton resident cited for dumping 40 tires along roadway

An Ironton mad was cited and had to go clean up his mess after the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office busted him for disposing of tires along a roadside.

Alton Copus, 27, of Ironton was cited for littering and agreed to collect the 40-plus tires that had been left along State Lane, according to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office.

Farmers donate to fire department

Farmers Brad and Kim Schyvinck have helped the Loganville Fire Department receive a $2,500 grant.

The money will go toward new military style flashlights for fire and rescue operations.
