Public Health Sauk County received a grant of nearly $1,000 from the Community Foundation of South Central Wisconsin to help prevent illness and injury to people in our community who face the greatest health risks.

The grant funding will be used to support three efforts:

Sacred Heart is ending its mobile food pantry after two decades.

The final one will be held April 23 in the Sacred Heart parking lot. Distribution will begin at 4 p.m. and continue while supplies last.

The Sauk County Humane Society has unveiled its featured pets, with comments from shelter staff. They are as follows.

Next week’s programs for youth and adults at Reedsburg Public Library revolve around Earth Day, officially celebrated on Wednesday, April 22. The holiday was founded in 1970 by Wisconsin U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, and environmental activist Denis Hayes to raise awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources.

A workshop about the art of tying fishing flies will be held at 10:30 a.m. April 18 at the La Valle Library, 101 W. Main St.

The session will be led by Erik Lorenzen, an angler with 40 years of experience fishing in the state’s Driftless Area.

He will demonstrate how to tie flies for trout and panfish.

The Wonewoc Public Library will be holding a solar open house on Wednesday, April 29, from 4-7 p.m. in conjunction with the Wonewoc Neighborhood Solar Partners (NSP) Program Kick-off to Solar Event.

WCCU will have a Shred Event from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 18.

Locals can participate at the Reedsburg Main location.

Participants may bring up to three boxes per person of documents, which will be shredded for free.

Chris Taylor won the state’s Supreme Court justice race during the Spring Election.

In Sauk County, she earned more votes than the other candidate, Maria Lazar.

According to official results, Taylor won 11,629 votes in Sauk County, while Lazar had 7,420 votes.

A County Board seat that represents Reedsburg will be represented by Michael Leuth.

Leuth was elected to the vacant seat during the Spring Election. He received 283 votes, according to official results.

Another candidate, Steve James, earned 193 votes.

Both candidates were from Reedsburg.

The Reedsburg Parks and Recreation Department has released its seasonal program books.

The books contain information about the numerous recreational opportunities that exist for all ages in Reedsburg.
