Students receive recognition for love of country


At the January, 2026 Breakfast, the VFW Post 1916 and VFW 1916 Auxiliary recognized the winners of the Patriot's Pen 2025, the Voice of Democracy 2025, and the Teacher of the Year. The theme was: How are You Showing Patriotism and Support for our Country? Winners of the Patriot's Pen were Darren Lichte, Cooper Larson, Vivienne Townsend, and Emma Ayers. The winner of the Voice of Democracy was Aria Gada. The Teacher of the Year Award went to Jarikka Whitely of St. Peter's Lutheran School. (Submitted photo)
