Reedsburg’s Special Olympics team competed in the regional basketball tournament at Verona on March 5. The Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation donated three lifesaving AED’s to the School District of Reedsburg. They will replace outdated AED units at Westside and Pineview Elementaries, and will add a second AED at Webb Middle School. An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable, easy to use medical device that is designed to analyze heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal. Current Winona State track and field standout and former Reedsburg Beaver track and field standout Brooklyn Schyvinck has been named as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outstanding Senior of the Year Award. The award is presented to a NSIC Women’s Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete who is a four-year participant and is academically superior while also excelling for their school athletically. Schyvinck is a five-time All-American and the NSIC champion in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400 relay.

Approximately 200 people attended the Sauk County Veterans Breakfast catered by Heavenly Smoked Roaster of Baraboo on Friday, March 3. Operation Honor Bound and Baraboo 21 invited veterans to a special breakfast at Baraboo High School. It was followed by a brief ceremony. A special music performance was put on by the BHS Band and Chamber Choir. Commemorative medals were presented to Gulf War veterans. Five booths were on display.
