Book Madness energy is flowing through the sixth-grade halls at Webb Middle School this March. The sixth graders nominated their favorite books, and the top 32 titles were identified. During Selection Monday, the students collaborated and chose the top 16 books to make the Webb Book Madness bracket. Students are sharing ideas, making book talks and trying to persuade others to vote for their choices. Titles will be narrowed down to the Elite Eight, Final Four and Champion during the last week of March. The
Reedsburg Head Start celebrated National School Breakfast Week. The theme this year was Dig In to School Breakfast. Mayor Dave Estes talked to the children about the importance of breakfast. Head Start serves more than 7,000 breakfasts during the school year. The Reedsburg Street Department brought a dump truck and a payloader to help celebrate Dig In to Breakfast. The Good Ole Boys and their Toys club recently made a $200 donation to the Sauk County 4H Farm Safety Certification Class. More than 50 students age 12 and older are part of the class, which teaches children how to be careful around heavy agricultural machinery and other farm implements and practices. The organization made the donation in light of its upcoming Plow Day, which is set for April 22 (rain date is April 29). The Reedsburg Beaver Special Olympics basketball team received its second-place awards at the Sectional tournament at UW-Stevens Point on Sunday, March 19. At the sectional basketball tournament, the Beavers won their first game vs. Eau Claire, and then in the second game they lost a close contest vs. Manitowoc by three points.
