Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal crash in La Valle
A Wilton man is deceased following a Nov. 30 incident in the town of La Valle.
Just before 10 a.m. that date, the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched for a report of a head-on collision on Highway 33 near Demaskie Road. According to the Sheriff’s Office report, first responders found a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse and 2011 Ford Fusion with heavy front-end damage. The Fusion was blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 33, and the Traverse was in the ditch to the west of the road.
The driver of the Traverse was identified as a 68-year-old man from Wilton. He was pronounced at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office report. His name has not yet been released.
The driver of the Fusion was found to be a 22-year-old woman from Hillsboro. She was taken via MedFlight to UW-Madison. A 1-year-old child in the car was transported via ambulance to an area hospital, according to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. The two were not identified by law enforcement.
The street was closed for several hours while deputies worked the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Assisting at the scene were the La Valle Fire Department, La Valle First Responders, Town of La Valle Police Department, Wonewoc EMS, Reedsburg EMS, UW MedFlight, Sauk County Highway Shop and Sauk County Coroner’s Office.
