Reedsburg woman wins Grocer of Year Award

The owner of Viking Village Foods has received the 2021 Woman Grocer of the Year Award.
Pam Coy will receive the award during the National Grocers Association Show in Las Vegas in mid-September. The Women Grocers of America made the announcement on Monday.
According to the Women Grocers of America, Coy was nominated by WGA Executive Vice President Michelle Kussow, who said Coy has extensive expertise and leadership qualities thanks to a lifetime in the grocery business. She said in the nomination: “Even as a young girl Pam was showing signs she was set to start the grocery business on fire. Pam would sit with her dad as he would go through the price book and would record the changes he made. They tell the story of her dad teaching her to drive a forklift; he would have her out in the parking lot for hours on end. Just as her dad mentored her, Pam grew into being a hands-on owner and helps associates grow and develop their skills to be successful.”
Coy has also been active in community causes, such as the splash park project and Great Steak Challenge, which raises money for Reedsburg athletics. The Challenge has raised nearly $100,000 since it began.
