Authorities investigating suspected arson in Reedsburg

A home burned under suspicious circumstances on Feb. 10.

The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what happened at the home on Highway 154 in the town of Reedsburg. The residents were safely evacuated but some pets were still in the dwelling.

A 17-year-old resident was believed to have intentionally set the fire, and he then took a family vehicle, possibly heading to Madison, according to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken into custody without incident and was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety. Additional charges are possible as the incident remains under investigation.

Others who assisted with the incident were the Reedsburg Police Department, Reedsburg Fire Department, Reedsburg Area Ambulance Service, Baraboo Fire Department, Dells-Delton Ambulance Service, La Valle Fire Department, Loganville Fire Department, North Freedom Fire Department and Madison Police Department.
