Coronavirus vaccines arrive at Reedsburg Area Medical Center
Reedsburg Area Medical Center got an extra special Christmas gift this year.
On Dec. 24, the medical provider received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine. It started by vaccinating its health care personnel under guidance from the CDC and FDA.
The first person to receive the shot was Jennifer Horkan, director of respiratory therapy. She received the vaccine from retired registered nurse Beverly Hoege, who was among other retirees who turned out to help administer shots.
The next recipients will be residents at Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center, and shots will hopefully be conducted the first week of January.
The general public will still have to wait, as vaccine supplies remain limited worldwide. It’s not likely that they will be able to get the vaccine until mid-2021.
RAMC will continue to communicate with patients and the community as changes occur.
