Rock Springs library gets money for programs, materials about Asia
The Rock Springs Public Library will be able to expand its programming and materials due to a grant from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Center for East Asian Studies.
The center presented an $870 grant to fund informational opportunities about East Asia. This is part of the Wisconsin Library Program.
Rock Springs Library’s grant was one of 38 awarded to libraries across Wisconsin, which equated to $32,765 overall in awards. Dollars will be used to purchase books and films about China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The Center created the program to encourage libraries to add more materials to their collections.
It partnered with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Wisconsin Library Association and Cooperative Children’s Book Center to plan and promote the new program, which was launched in August.
A second round of funding is expected to be released in fall 2021.
