Pets of the Week: Catire and Downy

The Sauk County Humane Society has unveiled its featured pets, with comments from shelter staff. They are as follows.

Meet Catire! (Pronounced: Kah – Tee – Ray) This stunning 7-month-old red heeler mix has a name as unique as his looks. “Catire” is a Spanish word meaning blonde or fair, fitting his beautiful coat perfectly. And then there are those unforgettable eyes: One bright blue and one warm brown. Catire is a gentle, submissive pup who still finds the world a little overwhelming at times, so he’ll need a patient home to help him build confidence and settle in at his own pace. While he enjoys exploring, he’s much more of a cuddle-up-next-to-you kind of dog than a nonstop wild child. Catire came to the shelter after a lifestyle change in his previous home. He is cat friendly and would likely enjoy having a calm canine companion to help show him the ropes. Because he can be a little jumpy and sensitive, we think he’d do best in a home without very young children. He is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered prior to adoption.

Downy is a 2-year-old tabby cat who came to the shelter as a stray and has been slowly getting more comfortable with her new surroundings each day. While she can be a little shy at first, she’s a truly sweet cat who enjoys gentle attention and quiet companionship. Downy likes spending time in laps, is easy to pick up, and feels comfortable being carried once she settles in. She enjoys exploring the socialization room at her own pace and has a soft spot for catnip and tasty treats. With her calm personality and gentle nature, Downy would thrive in a home where she can relax, feel safe, and continue building confidence with people who love her. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations.
