On the Same Page: Expand your horizons next week

Try something new next week at Reedsburg Public Library. Options include watercolor painting and German genealogy for adults, secret book messages for Teen Time, Pokemon at KidsClub, and special “checking out the library” sessions for preschoolers.
Watercolor painting is the topic of the extended Mingle and Muse session on Monday, April 6. Drop-in between 9 a.m. and noon to learn about watercolor painting from members of the Southern Wisconsin Watercolor Society. Participants may observe the painting process or try their hand with a watercolor palette and canvas, with basic instruction and feedback provided by SWWS members. All supplies will be provided and no registration is necessary.
On Wednesday, April 8, at 1 p.m., Bob Rettamel, vice-president of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, will present the program, Finding Connections to the Old Country: German Roots, at RPL’s Local History and Genealogy Meet Up. Rettammel started his own genealogy service in 2014 and has conducted research for the TV show, “Who Do You Think You Are.” If you have any German ancestry, you will not want to miss this program. No registration is necessary.
Miss Ashley’s Teen Time on Tuesday, April 7, at 4 p.m. will feature a Secret Book Messages game for students in Grades 6 through 12. The beginnings of a few famous book quotes will be provided, and teens must find the remaining words by using a secret code and selected books.
Babygarten on Wednesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. is all about butterflies. Kids Club for Grades K-5 on Thursday, April 9, at 4 p.m. revisits the Pokemon theme with various activities featuring the popular characters. Preschool Storytime participants will go on a tour of the Reedsburg Public Library on Thursday, and Friday, April 9 and 10, at 10 a.m.
Changes are coming to LINKcat in Spring 2026 as the South Central Library System moves to new software. The new LINKcat will look much the same, with improved features designed with library customers in mind. Next week’s article will detail the specific changes to the system.
Reedsburg Public Library has added one more site to its monthly delivery of books to local residential facilities. Residents of the Willow Heights Apartments will now receive 25 large-print books monthly, which can simply be borrowed, read, and returned to the library cart when finished. Other participants in the #RPLontheGo program include: Casa de Oakes, Sauk County Health Care Center, Reedsburg Senior Life Center, Ridgeview Heights at the Fusch Center, Our House Senior Living, Maple Ridge Apartments, and the Park Street Senior Apartments.
As a reminder, the library will be closed this weekend from Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5, for the Easter holiday.
