Girls basketball plays two

  The River Valley High School girls varsity basketball team had two games this past week. Tuesday night the Hawks hosted Belmont and narrowly lost the game with a final score of 36-33. This was the second loss for the girls this season.  After losing on a last second shot Tuesday night, the River Valley girls’ basketball team traveled to Mauston looking for their first win of the season. The Blackhawks bolted out to a 35 to 14 advantage in the first half. “You never know how the kids will respond to adversity, so early in the season, but I liked our energy at the start of the game” said head coach Brent Johnson. Ten different players scored in the contest as River Valley won by a final score of 65 to 33.  Leading the way were sophomores Morgan Brickl with 14 points and Charlotte Ferstl with 11 points.   This takes the girls to a season record of 1-2. The Blackhawks travel to Prairie Du Chien on Tuesday and to Adams-Friendship on Thursday this week.
