River Valley wrestlers host quad dual

The River Valley High School varsity wrestling team hosted Dodgeville, Poynette, and Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern in a quad dual meet last Firday night. River Valley defeated Dodgeville 54-18 and Cuba City/Benton/Southwestern 41-28. Poynette defeated River Valley 40-27.
“We focused all week on making a statement at home for our fans and our seniors,” said River Valley co-head coach Dan Machovec. “Last year we won a total of two dual meets. We looked at the match-ups and believed we had a chance to win all three dual meets on Friday. At the start of the year everyone writes down their goals and an overwhelming amount of the wrestlers wrote down that they wanted to win more dual meets than last year. They were so focused on that goal all week.” River Valley won two of the three dual meets. “We may have come up short on our goal, but it wasn’t because of a lack of effort,” continued Machovec.
