Dear editor, WOW! The RVHS Pops Concert 2021 was/is AMAZING!!!!  I say “was” because it did already occur; but I say “is” because you can still attend.  I highly recommend going to Youtube.com and search RVHS Pops Concert 2021 and take 50 minutes to watch these incredible performances! BRAVO to students and staff involved in this production!!!!  What a bright spot in what has been a most different year!  I am grateful for your sharing of your enthusiasm and your talent!!! Sincerely, Diane Baryenbruch Spring Green   Dear editor, Construction for the Cardinal-Hickory Creek transmission line is approaching The Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge on the Iowa side of the river.  Trees have been removed and the ground bulldozed bare to create a wide ROW (right of way).  It is heartbreaking to imagine this devastation taking place within the refuge itself. Four conservation groups are taking legal actions, including filing a federal lawsuit, against U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA Rural Utilities Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They allege these agencies violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act, and the Endangered Species act when they granted permits allowing CHC to cross through the Refuge.  Driftless Defenders intends to send a petition to these federal agencies supporting the conservation groups’ legal efforts and confirming that the public passionately wants to protect the refuge from this unneeded and environmentally-destructive transmission line.   Please help save the Wildlife Refuge by signing the petition.     https://www.change.org/StopCHCdestruction   Thank you, Betsy D’Angelo Town of Dodgeville   Dear editor, The Plain Ambulance Service would like to thank the community for their continued support and donations at our spring spaghetti supper, which was held on April 6. A special thank you to the American Legion for the use of their building. We appreciate the generous donation from Plain Kwik Stop for making and donating the cookies. Proceeds will go towards recruitment River Valley High School seniors pursuing a career in the medical field. Your grandfather, Samuel, founder of Nina’s was a member of the several who chartered American Legion Post 253!  Your father, George, was a decorated World War II veteran, village board trustee, successful Nina’s businessman and life-long supporter of, among other issues, making sure Spring Green kept its vibrant downtown. It is fortunate for our village that the Marcus sense of community duty and service became yours and you carry on the tradition that is Nina’s, one of the most important anchor stores in Spring Green. I know you will continue to contribute your needed perspective, courage, wisdom, selflessness and profound caring to continue the quest to always secure the uniqueness and special place that is Spring Green.
