Eagles’ runners cruise

Sauk Prairie’s cross country teams were running on fumes. But the Eagles still ran well enough to cruise past Lodi on Sept. 21. Sauk Prairie’s boys downed Lodi, 21-35, while the Eagles’ girls rolled to a 21-38 win. The Eagles had competed just 48 hours earlier in a dual meet at Beaver Dam. “With one day between races, I would say we did pretty well,” Sauk Prairie coach Andy Sherman said. Sauk Prairie’s Jack Boerger won the boys’ race, completing the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 37 seconds. Ritchie Wolff was second in 19:15, Dalton Zirbel was third (19:19), Jonah Richard was seventh (20:20) and Sam Beattie was eighth (20:28). CJ Gregg won the girls’ race in 22:27, while Meadow Liedtke was second (23:25). Kassia Marquardt was fourth (23:48), Lexy Been was sixth (24:14) and Ava Jorgenson was eighth (25:09). • On deck: The Eagles were at Portage Tuesday, then travel to DeForest Saturday at noon.   BOYS CROSS COUNTRY SAUK PRAIRIE 21, LODI 35 Sauk Prairie: 1, Boerger, 18:37; 2, Wolff, 19:15; 3, Zirbel, 19:19; 7, Richard, 20:20; 8, Beattie, 20:28.   GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Non-conference SAUK PRAIRIE 21, LODI 38 Sauk Prairie: 1, Gregg, 22:27; 2, Liedtke, 23:25; 4, Marquardt, 23:48; 6, Been, 24:14; 8, Jorgenson, 25:09.
