Girls basketball team wins a pair

Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team won a pair of games last week and improved to 3-1 on the season. The Eagles defeated River Valley, 59-11, on Dec. 29. Sauk Prairie then downed Baraboo, 60-40, on Dec. 30. In the Eagles’ win over River Valley, Naomi Breunig led the way with 11 points and Olivia Breunig added 10. Olivia Paukner scored nine points and Kassia Marquardt had seven. In Sauk Prairie’s win over Baraboo, Naomi Breunig led the way with 23 points. Total fouls: RV 15; SP 10.   Swimming The Sauk Prairie-Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team fell to Waukesha North’s cop-op, 105-65, on Dec. 29. Waukesha North finished first in all 11 events. The Eagles did have a number of second place finishes. Zach Guentherman, Sam King, Adam Stecker and Ryan Godwin were second in the 200-yard medley relay, while King, Evan Leece, Stecker and Matthew Loy were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Godwin, Sam Beattie, Guentherman and Loy also teamed up to finish second in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Loy, Beattie and Leece were second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle, while Guentherman was third in the 200-yard IM. King was third in the 50-yard freestyle, while Jackson Shavlik and Alex Dunning were second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly. Loy and Leece were second and third in the 100-yard freestyle, while Beattie and Godwin were second and third in the 500-yard freestyle.
