To the Editor: On January 5, 2021, my husband and I attended the Black Earth Village Board Meeting held in the conference room in the Black Earth Municipal Building. Before the meeting was called to order, the Village Administrator and the Board President requested that two people needed to leave the conference room due to the a rule that only 10 people were permitted to be in the room a because of Covid restrictions and 12 people were present. Two people respectfully left the room and sat in the corridor with the door open so they could hear the board proceedings. At the front entrance of the building is a warning sign posted which clearly states “MASK OR CLOTH FACE COVERING REQUIRED”.  However, when a Trustee of the Board removed his mask shortly after the meeting was in session, meeting managers made no attempt to have the member put on his mask when it is another clear violation of the Municipal Building’s policy. Why was one violation of the rules enforced and the other not addressed? Everyone entering the building, including Village Trustees, must be in compliance with mask wearing or attend the meeting on Zoom.  All rules must be enforced to everyone entering the Municipal Building regardless of status. Wearing a mask is a health issue not only for the wearer but for others.    Sandra Stanfield Vermont Township
