Co-op hockey team stays unbeaten

Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team improved to 5-0 with a pair of wins last week. The Eagles defeated Milton, 4-1, on Jan. 7 and toppled Tomah/Sparta, 5-2, on Jan. 9. In Sauk Prairie’s win over Milton, Micah Hanson and Erik Peterson both had a pair of goals. Hanson had an even strength goal 10 minutes into the game and Peterson scored on assists from Luke Mast and Nick Mast at 13:02 to make it 2-0. In the second period, Peterson scored on assists from Luke Mast and Sam Severson at 7:40 to make it 3-0. Hanson then scored on an assist from Nick Mast at 10:01 to make it 4-0. Sauk Prairie’s Kaden Stracke had 18 saves and a .947 save percentage and earned the win. In the Eagles’ win over Tomah/Sparta, Hakon Peterson and Erik Peterson both had a pair of goals. Hanson also added a goal. Erik Peterson had a power play goal on an assist from Luke Mast midway through the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Tomah/Sparta tied the game, 1-1, late in the first period, before the Eagles erupted for three second period goals. Hanson had a power play goal on assists from Ethan Tranel and Erik Peterson at 1:41 of the second period to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Hakon Peterson then scored at 3:38 on assists from Hanson and Luke Mast, then Hakon Peterson struck at 10:49 to make it 4-1. Tomah/Sparta pulled within 4-2 midway through the third period. Erik Peterson answered less than one minute later, though, to give the Eagles a 5-2 lead.
