Eagles send four wrestlers to sectionals

Sauk Prairie had four wrestlers advance through the WIAA Division 1 Baraboo Regional last Saturday. The top two finishers in each weight class moved on to this Saturday’s Mukwonago Sectional. The Eagles had second-place finishes from Colton Uselman at 132 pounds, Carson Saladis at 138, Luis Elizondo at 145 and heavyweight Nolan Vils. Uselman received a first round bye, then pinned Reedsburg’s Colton Herritz in 2:58. In the first place match, Connor Goorsky of Baraboo defeated Uselman, 4-2, and the Eagles’ standout settled for second. Saladis also received a bye, then pinned Dilon Judd of Reedsburg in 1:13. Sam Lorenz of Waunakee pinned Saladis in the first place match, and Saladis settled for second. Elizondo received a first round bye, then defeated Darren Greenwood of Reedsburg, 9-7. Baraboo’s Brandon Jesse won by technical fall over Elizondo in the first place match, 19-4. But Elizondo pinned Ethan Steinhoff of Mount Horeb in 46 seconds for second place. At heavyweight, Vils received a bye, then he pinned Reedsburg’s David Finkel in 4:22. Verona’s Jay Hanson pinned Vils in 5:32 in the first place match and Vils settled for second.
