Gymnasts have record night

It was a record-setting night for Sauk Prairie’s girls gymnastics team on Feb. 3. Even more exciting was it came in a win. The Eagles downed Reedsburg, 128.450-123.30 in a dual meet.  “They looked like they deserved to break the record with so many more hit routines,” Sauk Prairie coach Justine Anderson said. One highlight of the night was the Eagles setting a program record on the balance beam with a 32.750. Ava Putnam led the way with an 8.750, while Sauk Prairie also counted scores from Lexi Hellenbrand (8.30), Sara Nehring (7.90) and Shannon Tierney (7.80). Nehring had the top score on the floor (8.850), while Putnam was second (8.60). Tierney added an 8.350 and Hellenbrand scored an 8.20. Hellenbrand was third on the vault (8.30), while the Eagles counted scores from Tierney (8.10), Putnam (8.050) and Nehring (8.0). And on the uneven bars, Tierney was second (8.250), while Sauk Prairie counted scores from Nehring (7.250), Hellenbrand (7.150) and Putnam (6.60). Tierney finished third in the all-around competition with a 32.50, while Nehring and Putnam scored 32.0 and Hellenbrand had a 31.950. Nehring set personal-best scores on the bars, beam, floor and all-around. Putnam had PRs on the beam and all-around competition, while Tierney set PRs on the uneven bars and the all-around.
