Nature and Society: We need to ensure all people enjoy same advantages

I want to reassure Brian who wrote to the paper a couple of weeks ago that I never meant to imply that he should be ashamed of the privileges he has enjoyed because he is white. There is nothing wrong with being white. As I see it, white people do not need to give up any of the advantages they have enjoyed in America for centuries.

Clergy Corner: Why does bad stuff happen to me?

There are a lot of answers people give to that question.

“Maybe God doesn’t love you.” “Maybe he’s punishing you for something.”

Everyone has their own opinions about why bad stuff happens, but I don’t like those answers very much.

So why does bad stuff happen to me?

Simple: “God is LOVE” (1 John 4:20).
