Spring Green, Plain, and Lone Rock Library Notes
Spring Green
By Emily Whitmore, Library Director
August is here! What a summer! We have been so busy at the Library keeping everyone in books and busy. But our Summer Reading Program is wrapping up on August 14 with a grand finale starting at 10:30a. And there will probably be a surprise or two to be had.
If anyone still has some Library Loot, they can use that to buy prizes until August 22. As I type this, we still have some pretty cool items.
After this, then Kate and all Library staff will enjoy a short programming break before we launch right into Fall and Winter! Which I am personally looking forward to.
As a quick preview for adults, I have two more craft programs, a biology professor coming to talk about large cats, and a class about sleep that was put together and provided through the UW Extension office.
I know August is the universal vacation month, so I hope everyone has safe and fantastic trips!
The library is open Monday through Thursdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Jim Draeger, co-author of Bottoms Up with Mark Spelts, will discuss the book. Bottoms Up celebrates Wisconsin’s taverns and the breweries that fueled them. Beginning with inns and saloons, the book explores the rise of taverns and breweries, the effects of temperance and Prohibition, and attitudes about gender, ethnicity, and morality. Contemporary photographs of unusual and distinctive bars and breweries of all eras illustrate the story of how Wisconsin came to dominate brewing. Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Old Franklin Township Historical Society and Kraemer Library.
The library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 6 pm; Friday, 10 am-5 pm; and Saturday, 10 am- 2 pm.
