FOOD PRESERVATION 101
Saturday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m.
Interested in preserving your garden produce? Join us for a presentation on home food preservation and discover research-based techniques for safely preserving foods at home. Topics will include: common food preservation methods including canning, freezing, and drying; key principles for safe water bath and pressure canning; and how to identify and use reliable, research-based food preservation resources. A free dial-gauge pressure canner testing will be available after the presentation to ensure your equipment is operating accurately and safely.
 
BOOKS & BEYOND: TODDLER STORYTIME
Mondays at 10:00 a.m.
Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join storytime for stories, songs, and activities. No registration required. For Ages 1-2. 20-25 minutes.
 
BOOKS & BEYOND: PRESCHOOL STORYTIME
Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to join storytime for stories, songs, and a craft. No registration required. For Ages 3-5. 25-30 minutes.

THE SALAD THAT BROUGHT ME BACK FROM BURNOUT
Saturday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m.
Join us in welcoming Inga Witscher, a local Wisconsin farmer and host of the PBS series of Around the Farm Table. She will be presenting a cooking + wellness class centered on food as self-respect. Part demo, part storytelling, part emotional wellness session — we’ll make a seasonal lentil salad together, and she’ll share how simple, whole food cooking helped her reclaim joy, energy, and her sense of self after years of burnout.

SAUK PRAIRIE COMMUNITY READ
Book release Tuesday, September 1
Join us for our sixth annual community read, continuing to focus on social isolation and loneliness. Free copies of Mattering: the Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose by Jennifer Bregeny Wallace will be available at both libraries starting Tuesday, September 1. The book discussion will be on Saturday, October 10 10:00-11:00a.m. at the George Culver Community Library.
 
DUCK STORYTIME
Wednesday, September 30 at 10 a.m.
A visitor from Farmer Brown’s farm will be coming to both libraries! Come meet Duck from the beloved classic Click Clack Moo Cows that Type by Doreen Cronin. Duck will also be at the Ruth Culver Community Library in Prairie du Sac on Thursday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. There will be no storytime on Monday, September 28, as Ms. Tori will be traveling with Duck to our local schools.
 
FIRE STATION STORYTIME
Monday, October 5 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Storytime will take place at the Fire Station where a firefighter will read a story and we can tour inside a fire truck! October 4-10 is fire safety week!
 
1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN
Can you read 1,000 books with your child before they start kindergarten? Children and parents can earn incentives and small prizes along the way. The real reward: kids who are excited and ready to learn. Parents whose children who have not yet started 5K can sign up by visiting the library.
 
BOOK SALE
The library book sale is open during regular library hours. Browse used books and movies for all ages at reasonable prices in the library’s reading area. New items are added weekly. All proceeds benefit the library via the Friends of the George Culver Community Library.
 
EXPLORE THE LIBRARY OF THINGS
Tonies Kits
The toniebox is a soft, screen-free speaker for children. Using magnetic figurines called tonies, young children can navigate storytelling, music, and guided activities independently. Check out one of our tonie kits with a toniebox, headphones, headphone jack, charger and three tonies of your choice all in a convenient carrying case. Individual tonies can also be checked out and taken home or used in-library. Check out is one week. 
 
LIBRARIAN’S CHOICE REQUEST
Have a librarian pick out books and movies selected specifically for you! Fill out the form on our website, saukcitylibrary.org, to let us know what you’re interested in. A librarian will select movies or books for you and call to arrange pick-up.
 
PUZZLE SWAP
Bring in your gently-used puzzles (in good condition, with all the pieces) and exchange for new ones. No puzzles to share? No worries - donations are not required to take part in the fun. Feel free to return puzzles when you are done, or keep them forever.
