Pets of the Week: Shep and Ash

The Sauk County Humane Society has unveiled its featured pets, with comments from shelter staff. They are as follows.

Shep is a 6-year-old German shepherd who has all the qualities people love about the breed. Smart, loyal, and eager to please, he's the kind of dog who forms a strong bond with his family and wants to be wherever they are. Shep is completely housebroken, walks beautifully on a leash, and already knows commands like sit, stay, down, shake, and fetch. He loves playing with toys, chasing a ball, and spending time with his people. He's lived with children of all ages and has a gentle nature, though his excited greetings can be a little enthusiastic, so a home with older children may be the best fit. A securely fenced yard would give him the perfect place to run and play. Shep previously lived with another dog but would prefer to be the only pet in his next home. He can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate and playful personality shines. Returning to a familiar crate routine will help him settle in and feel secure as he starts this next chapter. He is up to date on his vaccinations and will be neutered prior to adoption.

Ash is a handsome gray tabby with a big personality and an even bigger heart. From the moment he gets a chance to stretch his legs, he's ready to explore every corner of the room before making his way back for attention. Ash is friendly, outgoing, and loves being around people. He's easy to pick up, comfortable being carried, and happily settles into your lap for pets and some quality cuddle time. He enjoys treats, leans into your hand for affection, and isn't shy about asking for more with plenty of purrs and conversation. While he has an independent side and likes checking out his surroundings, he always comes back to spend time with his favorite people. Ash also enjoys crinkly tunnel toys and climbing, making playtime just as much fun as cuddle time. Sweet, social, and full of charm, Ash is the kind of cat who quickly makes himself feel at home and will do the same in yours. He is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
