On the Same Page: Color Run, Sauk County Historical Society program next week
The week of Aug. 10-14 is the last week for regular library programs this summer, and the second to the last week of reading challenges. The last day to report on summer reading is Saturday, Aug. 22. Grand prize drawing winners for youth, teen and adult reading challenges will be notified the week of Aug. 24.
Reedsburg Writers will celebrate the completion of their writing projects at a publication party on Monday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. Each contributing writer will receive a copy, and library visitors can peruse the publication in the Children’s Area.
The final session of Time Travelers (Grades K-2) on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. will feature ninja training. Learn about the ninjas of feudal Japan, and compete for the best time in a ninja training obstacle course.
Families are invited to Webb Park on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. for a Family Night Color Run. Wear your old white t-shirt to experience the event. Celebrate color by running through showers of colored powder, and sprinkling others with the same.
Loganville Little Library will be painting on canvas for their final program of the summer. Meet at the Loganville Village Hall at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, to make your own acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Discovery Days (Grades 3-5) participants will do fabric painting on white t-shirts at 2 p.m. Discovery Days does require registration 24 hours in advance, but shirts and paints are provided.
The last Babygarten and Preschool Storytimes for the summer will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, and Friday, Aug. 14, respectively. The themes for these sessions are shapes and dinosaurs.
The Teen Lock In (Grades 6-12) will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 9 p.m., after-hours in the library. Registration is required. Participants will enjoy a movie and pizza as well as activities including a Beat the Buzzer game designed by Miss Ashley. Teens are challenged to answer easy game show questions, but before they answer they must hit the right buzzer, which is located somewhere in the library. Each buzzer may only be used once.
Next week’s Local History and Genealogy Meet Up is co-sponsored by the Sauk County Historical Society, and will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m., at the Reedsburg Public Library.
This month’s topic is the historic Sauk County Farm, originally established to help county residents experiencing economic hardship, or mental health conditions. Paul Wolter, executive director of SCHS, will give a presentation about its history beginning in1871. No registration is required for this program.
