On the Same Page: Book discussions for adults, local author visit, and upcoming summer activities
As a reminder, the Library will be closed Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday. This also marks the beginning of our summer hours which means the Library will be closed on Sundays through Labor Day weekend.
On May 26, adults are invited to join either session of RPL’s Book Discussion group. The novel, “Here One Moment” by Liane Moriarty will be discussed at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. in person at the library or via Zoom. This is a good opportunity to see what the book group is all about, even if you haven’t had a chance to read the book. New members and guests are always welcome and the group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Summer selections include: “Three Days in June” by Anne Tyler (June), “The Blue Hour” by Paula Hawkins (July) and “The River is Waiting” by Wally Lamb (August).
On Monday, June 1, Reedsburg Public Library is hosting local resident John Pearson for an author visit at 6 p.m. Pearson is the author of cozy mysteries, “Shaver” and “Getting Lucky,” featuring fictional Wonder, Wisconsin, and a cast of relatable local characters and menu items! Join us for the introduction to Pearson’s first two books.
Summer Reading Challenges for both youth and adults will begin on Monday, June 1. Make sure to register for your age-appropriate reading challenge and pick up your reading log. Children, teens and adults have the opportunity to keep up their reading skills and earn prizes throughout the summer for their efforts.
Youth Services Librarian Stephanie Baldwin-Curtis and Youth Services Assistant Ashley McFadden have a great line-up of summer programs for kids and teens beginning Monday, June 15. Mondays feature Reedsburg Writers and Teen Time. All independent youth writers are invited to join Reedsburg Writers at 10 a.m. and youth entering Grades 6-12 are invited to Teen Time at 2 p.m. for a variety of crafts and book-related activities. Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m., we invite youth entering kindergarten through second grade to explore history through books, crafts and other activities at the Time Travelers Club. Family Fun Nights are scheduled for select Tuesday evenings at 6p.m. with a variety of activities for all ages. Wednesday means Babygarten at 10 a.m. for babies 0-24 months and their caregivers and siblings. Youth entering Grades 3-5 are invited to register weekly for Discovery Days on Thursday at 2 p.m., featuring crafts and other educational programs.
Preschool Storytime completes the week on Fridays at 10 a.m. Loganville Little Library will meet at the Loganville Village Hall on Thursdays at 10, starting on June 25 for crafts and book checkout.
