On the Same Page: Terrarium creation, book talks, more at Reedsburg Library
Terrariums, book discussions and games are all on the docket next week at Reedsburg Public Library.
On March 23, at 10 a.m., RPL’s Mingle and Muse group for adults will be creating terrariums. Library Assistant Director Anne Howe will guide participants through making miniature ecosystems in small glass containers using rocks, soil, and small succulent plants. Terrariums are easy to maintain as the closed water cycle of transpiration and condensation eliminates the need for frequent watering.
All materials will be provided and there is no registration required to attend.
RPL’s monthly book discussion group will be meeting in person and virtually on Tuesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. This months’ selection is “Good Dirt” by Charlaine Wilkerson and there are a few copies of the book still available for checkout if you would like to join this month. Are you thinking of joining at a future date? The books have been selected for discussions through November 2026. Pick up a copy of the listing on your next visit to the library.
Games are the Youth Programming focus this week. Teen Time on Tuesday, March 24, at 4 p.m. kicks off the fun with Miss Ashley hosting the popular, fast-paced, competitive Minute to Win It Game.
Baby and Me Play on Wednesday, March 25, is all about free play with age appropriate toys for babies up to age 2, their caregivers and siblings. Kids Club for Elementary ages continues the fun with Miss Stephanie hosting Game Day on Thursday, March 26, at 4 p.m. Storytimes on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, at 10 a.m. will feature Spring themes to wrap up the week.
Recent visitors to the Reedsburg Public Library may have noticed that their go-to-sections in nonfiction have moved. At the last library staff in-service, and for several days following, RPL staff separated children’s and adult nonfiction titles. All children’s nonfiction is now adjacent to the children’s section, and will make one stop shopping for books easier for families. Accordingly, adult nonfiction shelves have shifted. In anticipation of the library’s move, staff has also been “weeding” lesser used and worn items from the collection. Romance readers will notice a more compact and fresh look on the shelves.
As of April 17, library customers will see a change to the LINKCat catalog. The update to South Central Library System’s circulation system will offer a more user-friendly platform for searching titles and placing holds.
As a reminder, next week the library will be closed from Friday, April 3, through Sunday, April 5, for the Easter holiday.
