With the new year barely upon us, Reedsburg Public Library has a number of upcoming events of interest to you! The Friends of the Library Book Sale runs through Sunday, Youth Services programs begin on Tuesday and three special events for adults are part of next week’s schedule!
Remember to stop in the library through Sunday, Jan. 11, and take advantage of the Friends of the Library Book Sale to restock your personal collection. Items are not individually marked, but payment can be made with a donation to the Friends of the Reedsburg Library. In addition to a great selection of all genres, a number of science fiction and mystery books will be part of this sale.
The winter/spring youth services schedule begins on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and includes Reedsburg favorites including Babygarten, Pre-School Storytime, Kid’s Club and Teen Time. For the first meeting in 2026, new Youth Services Librarian Stephanie Baldwin-Curtis is adding a book club component to Teen Time where participants may share and recommend what they have been reading.
RPL’s Memoir Writing Group welcomes guest speaker Laurie Scheer via Zoom for the Tuesday, Jan. 13, meeting at 6 p.m. You don’t need to belong to the memoir group to participate! Scheer, vice president of the Wisconsin Writers Association, will talk about setting and meeting your memoir writing goals. If you have been thinking of recording your memories, Scheer’s presentation will give you a great start! Her impressive resume includes editing the Midwest Prairie Review literary magazine at UW-Madison, and serving as a writing mentor to hundreds of students. You may come to the library to view the Zoom presentation or call the library to receive your own Zoom link.
Continuing with the theme of organization for the new year, Eleanor Brinsko of Carlon Genealogical Services will talk to the Local History and Genealogy Group on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 1 p.m., via Zoom. Brinsko will talk about how to best organize your genealogy projects both on paper and digitally. You may view the presentation at the library or call the library to receive your own Zoom link.
Later in the day, local culinary enthusiast Heidi Feller will facilitate the library’s January Cookbook Club at 6 p.m. This month the group will be talking about the cookbooks and recipes of Melissa Clark. Clark is an American food writer, cookbook author, New York Times columnist, and the author of over 40 cookbooks. Several of the cookbooks are available at the library for you to check out and prepare a recipe. Register for the event on the library’s website at www.reedsburglibrary.org or call the library.
