Reedsburg fire displaces resident
A Reedsburg resident suffered a home fire on Sept. 20.
Just after 5 a.m., the Reedsburg Police Department was notified of a mobile home fire at 325 S. Grove St. The Reedsburg Fire Department, Reedsburg EMS and the PD responded to the property to find the flames concentrated in the front bedroom. The homeowner had escaped and was uninjured, according to the Reedsburg Police Department report.
The fire is believed to have started from a candle touching a curtain. Although firefighters quickly stopped the blaze, the home is still considered a total loss. The homeowner’s cat did not survive the fire, according to the police report.
Emergency crews remained on site for about two hours, and the Salvation Army provided housing for the displaced resident.
Alliant Energy and Reedsburg Utility assisted at the scene.
