Letters to the editor

Dear Editor,   In a time when people need well-researched, in-depth, fact-based coverage of matters central to the survival of our democratic republic—and our physical and mental health—more than ever, the Star News delivers. Your April 8 edition is a fine example. Front page, above the fold, and shoulder to shoulder: an article about the expansion of the COVID-19 vaccine program, and a deep dive into how gerrymandering drives elections in Wisconsin. And on page 2, two more solid pieces about voting and elections.  On top of stories of substance like those, the Star News provide all the things a reader might expect of a quality community newspaper: about-town happenings and human interest stories, plenty of engaging photos, and diverse voices from the towns you cover. Matt Geiger’s delightful and insightful essays are an added treat. As print journalism continues to decline and the media landscape becomes even more fragmented, your publication stands out in the darkness and noise. Please keep up the fantastic work. A grateful subscriber,   Rick Chamberlin Sauk City   Sauk County Public Health would like to formally thank the Ho-Chunk Nation Department of Health for opening up their community COVID-19 vaccination events on March 24th and 31st to all members of our community and administering over 2,200 doses. Your efforts to protect the health of our community are greatly appreciated!   Sauk County Public Health
