Patzka honored by WIAC

Former Wisconsin Heights standout Christian Patzka, a freshman at UW-Whitewater, was recently named the men’s Newcomer of the Year inside the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Patzka was also named second-team all-conference and All-Midwest Region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Patzka finished his first indoor season among the nation’s top 15 in a pair of distance events. He finished fifth in the WIAC and 11th in NCAA Division III in the 1-mile run with his time of 4:14.27. Patzka also placed second in the conference and fourth in the nation in the 3,000-meter run with a mark of 8:26.64. During the indoor season, he finished among the top four in his race at every meet, including a win in the 1-mile run at the team’s first dual and a runner-up finish in the 3,000-mile run at the WIAC Last Chance Meet. Patzka also recorded the WIAC’s No. 2 time in the 3,000-meter run (8:26.64).
