River Valley/ Barneveld gymnastics team sees action twice

River Valley/Barneveld varsity gymnasts had a dual and an invite over the last week. They started with the dual against Dodgeville/Mineral Point/Iowa Grant on Monday. The girls from River Valley/Barneveld took home the win 127.225 to 122.050. “We had a great meet against D/MP/IG,” said River Valley/Barneveld head coach Julie Kuhse. “It’s always fun to get together with them as the girls know each other, cheer for each other.”  “We started on vault,” continued Kuhse. “We went for clean vaults and worked on landings. McKenzie Kruse performed her tsuk for the first time. She’s been working in it for a while but the first time in competition, scoring her personal best.”   Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the dual in the vault are: McKenzie Kruse tied for third with a score of 8.300, Morgan Bowell placed seventh with a score of 8.100, Emily Noble tied for third with a score of 8.300, Katie Forseth placed sixth with a score of 8.200, and Sofia Sanftleben placed fifth with a score of 8.250. Next the girls traveled to the uneven bars. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the dual in the uneven bars are: Madison Krey placed fifth with a score of 7.300, Emily Noble placed seventh with a score of 7.150, Lorisa Shatrawka placed first with a score of 8.500, McKenzie Kruse placed fourth with a score of 7.700, and Sofia Sanftleben placed third with a score of 7.950. The the girls were on the balance beam next. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the dual in the balance beam are: Lorisa Shatrawka placed second with a score of 8.250, McKenzie Kruse placed third with a score of 7.450, Emily Noble placed fourth with a score of 7.150, Sofia Sanftleben placed fifth with a score of 7.275, and Katie Forseth placed seventh with a score of 7.600. The last event for the girls was the floor exercise. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the dual in the floor exercise are: Emily Noble placed fourth with a score of 7.950, McKenzie Kruse placed third with a score of 8.350, Morgan Bowell placed sixth with a score of 7.800, Katie Forseth placed seventh with a score of 7.600, and Sofia Sanftleben placed fifth with a score of 7.900. The team traveled to the Platteville Invitational on Saturday to compete against six other schools. River Valley/ Barneveld entered two teams of seven girls each and took first place with 131.8250 points of the eight teams in competition with Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster taking second with 126.3500 points, and Viroqua area taking third with 124.7750 points.  The girls started out on the uneven bars. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the invite in the uneven bars are: Lorisa Shatrawka placed first with a score of 8.900, Sofia Sanftleben placed third with a score of 8.100, McKenzie Kruse placed seventh with a score of 7.900, Emily Noble placed 11th with a score of 7.650, Morgan Bowell placed 16th with a score of 7.350, Madison Krey placed 20th with a score of 7.100, Jasmine Olson placed 27th with a score of 6.450, Lily Borucki placed 32nd with a score of 5.750, Haylee Fruit placed 38th with a score of 4.250, Stephanie Limmex placed 39th with a score of 4.150, Allison Williams had a score of 3.4, and Katie Forseth had a score of 6.6.  Next the girls competed on the balance beam. “The girls have decreased the number of falls on beam, with only two falls of six girls in the PM session,” said Kuhse. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the invite in the balance beam are: Lorisa Shatrawka placed fourth with a score of 8.400, Sofia Sanftleben placed fifth with a score of 8.200, Emily Noble had a score of 8.100, Katie Forseth placed eighth with a score of 7.900, Morgan Bowell placed 11th with a score of 7.450, Madison Krey placed 13th with a score of 7.300, McKenzie Kruse placed 18th with a score of 6.900, Lily Borucki placed 30th with a score of 6.300, Allison Williams placed 31st with a score of 6.250, Stephanie Limmex placed 38th with a score of 5.550, and Haylee Fruit placed 39th with a score of 5.200.  The next event was the floor exercise. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the invite in the floor exercise are: Lorisa Shatrawka tied for second with 8.750 points, McKenzie Kruse tied for fourth place with 8.650 points, Emily Noble placed 15th with 8.225 points, Morgan Bowell placed 19th with 8.025 points, Katie Forseth had 7.975 points, Sofia Sanftleben placed 21st with a score of 7.950, Madison Krey placed 23rd with a score of 7.675, Lily Borucki placed 26th with a score of 7.550, Stephanie Limmex placed 38th with a score of 5.700, Haylee Fruit placed 39th with a score of 5.500, and Allison Williams placed 40th with a score of 5.325.  The final event for the girls was the vault. Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the invite in the vault are: McKenzie Kruse placed first with a score of 9.100, Katie Forseth placed 12th with a score of 7.925, Morgan Bowell placed 19th with a score of 7.650, Jasmine Olson placed 30th with a score of 7.250, Madison Krey placed 37th with a score of 6.950, Lily Borucki placed 38th with a score of 6.750, Allison Williams placed 39th with a score of 6.100.  Individual results for River Valley/Barneveld at the invite in the all-around are: McKenzie Kruse placed fifth with an overall score of 32.550, Sofia Sanftleben placed sixth with an overall score of 32.525, Madison Krey placed 18th with an overall score of 29.025, and Lily Borucki placed 22nd with an overall score of 26.350.  “Overall the girls performed very well,” concluded Kuhse. “The PM group was excited with their season high of 131.55 and hitting 12 PRs of 23 performances.” This week the girls competed in their final conference dual against Platteville/Belmont/Lancaster. Thursday night will be the conference meet, taking place in Dodgeville this year.
