Missing child found safe after search

A Sauk County child was located in a barn after law enforcement mounted a search on Jan. 22.

At around 1:30 p.m. the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a child that went missing in the town of Woodland. The child, whose age was not released, reportedly walked away from how two hours prior and had not yet returned.

Deputies employed a K9 unit and drones to help with the search. Just before 5:15 p.m. the child was found in a barn on Highway G. The youth was returned to family, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Assisting at the scene were Wonewoc First Responders, Wonewoc Fire Department and the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office.
