Swimmers enjoy a big week

The Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team kept on rolling last week. In a triple dual held at Jack Young Middle School in Baraboo on Jan. 12, Sauk Prairie defeated Baraboo, 105-64, and swam to an 85-85 tie with Monona Grove. The Eagles also defeated McFarland, 99-71, on Jan. 16. Sauk Prairie’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Sam King, senior Adam Stecker, junior Evan Leece and junior Matthew Loy were second. The Eagles’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Ryan Godwin, senior Sam Beattie, senior Zach Guentherman and Loy were second. And Sauk Prairie’s 200-yard medley relay team of Guentherman, King, Leece and Godwin were third. Loy won the 50-yard freestyle, while senior Mason Breunig was fourth and Leece was fifth. Loy also won the 100-yard freestyle, while Leece was fourth. Godwin was second in the 500-yard freestyle, while sophomore Austin Kaukl was third.  Guentherman was second in the 200-yard freestyle, while senior Jackson Shavlik was fourth. In the 200-yard IM, Beattie was second and Godwin was third. King was second in the 100-yard breaststroke, while senior Philip Geiselman was fourth and freshman Daniel Klein was fifth. Guentherman was third in the 100-yard backstroke and Beattie was fifth in the 100-yard butterfly. In the Eagles win over McFarland, the quartet of Godwin, King, Stecker and Loy won the 200-yard freestyle, while the foursome of Beattie, Leece, Guentherman and Loy won the 400-yard freestyle relay. Sauk Prairie’s 200-yard medley relay team of Guentherman, King, Leece and Godwin was second. In individual races, Loy won the 200-yard freestyle, while Beattie was third and Godwin was fourth. Guentherman won the 200-yard IM, while Shavlik was third and Nick Dunnum was fifth. King won the 50-yard freestyle, while Breunig was third and Stecker was fourth. King also won the 100-yard breaststroke and Geiselman was third. Loy was second in the 100-yard butterfly, while Leece was fourth and Stecker was fifth. Godwin was second in the 100-yard freestyle, while Breunig was third and Dunning was fourth. Guentherman was second in the 100-yard backstroke, while Kaukl was fourth and Dunnum was fifth.
