Heights boys drop two of three

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team found out last week what its postseason path will look like. Now, the Vanguards will spend the next month trying to get into playoff shape. Heights dropped two of three games last week and fell to 2-3 on the year. The Vanguards also learned that their WIAA Division 4 regional will consist of Boscobel, Fennimore, River Ridge, River Valley and Heights. Regionals run from Feb. 16-20 and sectionals start on Feb. 25. Here’s a look back at Heights’ week: • Wisconsin Heights 61, Waterloo 49 — De’Shawn Barsness poured in 19 points to lead three Vanguards in double figures on Jan. 12. Lathan Parman and Derek Adler both added 11 points, while Devin Brabender scored eight points and Everett Buol had seven. Heights held a narrow 26-23 halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half for an impressive win. • Marshall 81, Wisconsin Heights 76 (OT) — Greg Ward scored 29 points for the host Cardinals, who toppled the Vanguards in a thriller on Jan. 14. Derek Adler scored 19 points to lead Heights, while De’shawn Barsness chipped in 18. Devin Brabender scored 13 and Everett Buol added 10. Heights held a narrow 37-34 halftime lead.
