Wrestlers win dual at home

The River Valley High School boys varsity wrestling team hosted Brodhead/Juda last Wednesday night. The dual had River Valley coming out on top 45-21.  “River Valley showed lots of aggression on top,” said River Valley co-head coach Dan Machovec. “They were going for multiple pinning combinations, which is something we have stressed in practice. We have started to shoot and attack a lot more and the next step is to then get the pins in matches to help us win dual meets. We are giving up 24 points due to four forfeits right now and each pin is a way to counter those forfeits. You can see the excitement in the dual meets with the team, they are truly starting to believe in themselves and that’s something coach Wunnicke, coach Dischler and I have stressed from day one. Brodhead did give us some fits as well. They made us really work to get away from the bottom position, it took a long time for some of our guys to get away.
