Soccer players named All-Conference

The River Valley High School boys varsity soccer team had seven players named to the SWC All Conference teams for the 2020 fall sports season. Defender Tristen Schmidt, midfielder Ben Whitaker, and forward Josh Kerr were all named to the first team all conference. Kerr was the runner up for the conference player of the year, has been nominated all state, and scored 17 goals this season. Whitaker was a “powerhouse in the midfield, look to him to be a big scoring threat next year,” said head coach Cory Schmidt. Schmidt “took on the conferences’ best all season,” said Schmidt.  Midfielder Noah Zumm, forward Conrad Youngquist, and goalie Bradley Richardson were named to the second team all conference. Zumm is a three time conference award winner, team captain, and “Solid holding midfielder that created a lot of opportunities for his teammates,” said Schmidt. Younquist was a “high motor player that brings a lot of intensity to the pitch,” said Schmidt.  Midfielder Luke Snow was named to the honorable mention list. Snow is a “high energy player that played well in space. (He) worked the whole field and helped to create opportunities for his teammates,” said Schmidt.  The boys finished third in the SWC conference with a conference record of 3-4 and an overall record of 4-5.
