Rock Springs breaks ground on new municipal building

A new municipal building has started to make its appearance in Rock Springs.

In November, the Village of Rock Springs and Architectural Design Consultants held a ground-breaking ceremony for the village’s next government and community structure. Representatives from USDA Rural Development, Sen. Howard Marklein and other guests were on hand for the occasion.

The 9,000 square-foot facility will house the community center, library, village offices, public works and volunteer fire department. It is valued at $1.7 million.

Completion is slated for spring 2021.

The center will replace current buildings, which were damaged in the 2018 flood.

Harmony Construction Management out of Madison is the general contractor. Vierbicher Associates, a Reedsburg engineering and planning firm, provided grant writing, civil engineering and land surveying. It helped the village obtain several grants, including from the CDBG and USDA, which covered around $1.4 million of the cost.
