Boy Scouts ‘beg’ for food

It’s time for the annual Camping for Cans organized by the Reedsburg Boy Scout Troop 247.

Members of the club will “beg” for non-perishable food and money outside Viking Village Foods on Nov. 7 and the morning of Nov. 8. The boys will build overnight shelters out of cardboard boxes to illustrate the plight of the homeless.

Donations will go toward the Reedsburg Area Food Pantry.

This marks the sixth year for Camping for Cans. Last year’s event brought in more than 6,000 items for the pantry. The club hopes to beat that benchmark in 2020.

Viking Village will match each donated item.
