Sauk Prairie School District going to referendum in spring election

On Jan. 20 the Sauk Prairie School Board held a special meeting on the proposed $65 million referendum. Community members came to the meeting and voiced their opinions. Many commented about supporting the athletics and the aquatics facilities.

Sauk Prairie School District congratulates students on Read-A-Thon

Grand Avenue fourth graders were recognized at the Jan 13 Sauk Prairie School Board Meeting for completing a Read-A-Thon prior to winter break. From this Read-A-Thon, they were able to make a contribution to the Sauk Prairie Area Food Pantry.

Sauk Prairie Middle School students don’t mispell words very often

On Jan. 14, 16 Sauk Prairie Middle School students competed to secure a spot in the SCRIPPS Regional Spelling Bee. Sebastien Friou and Charlie Endres were the top two spellers and will advance to the Regional Meet, which will be held in Portage on Feb. 4.

Sauk Prairie High School evacuated after bomb threat

Sauk Prairie High School was evacuated Jan. 28. due to a bomb threat. An hour and a half after the students were evacuated, they were allowed back into the school. According to Jerry Strunz, Chief of the Sauk Prairie Police Department, the FBI is involved in investigating the incident.

Heights class of 2021 holding Prom Fashion Show

The Wisconsin Heights Class of 2021 will be hosting the annual Prom Fashion Show on Sunday, Feb.  9, from 1-3 p.m. The show is held in the Wisconsin Heights cafeteria, with tickets available at the door for $5. The theme this year is Under the Stars. Over 40 models will strut their stuff on the runway for this annual fundraiser.

Merrimac Charter School gets wind generator

A wind generator has joined the solar panel in powering the Merrimac Community Charter School barn. Students learn about renewable energy and sustainable practices through the barnyard project. Pictured is the 4K class as they make observations about the new wind generator. Enrollment in the MCCS 4K is now open.

The December Above The Line theme was “Responsibility.”  The students listed below received awards on Friday, December 20th, from their classroom teacher or staff who felt that they are an individual that is responsible.  Congratulations to these students!
