Naturally Speaking: Sneezeweed

Common names of plants usually describe some botanical appearance, such as great blue Lobelia or Cardinal flower. Common sneezeweed is not at all common in its informal name.

Rather the name suggests after coming in contact with the plant by inhaling its aroma, and more, an involuntary sneeze may erupt.

Coronavirus causes 1 death, 2 new hospitalizations over weekend

Another death and two additional hospitalizations occurred over the weekend in Sauk County due to COVID-19.

According to Sauk County data, the latest tally brings deaths to eight since COVID-19 arrived this past spring. Coronavirus has also contributed to 66 hospitalizations overall.

Sauk County Historical Society holds drive-in meeting

The Sauk County Historical Society held its annual meeting and fall picnic on Oct. 8 as a drive-in event at the Sauk County Fairgrounds. Boxed dinners were handed out, with members facing the back of the grandstand, which was used as a giant projection screen.

Dellona has new drop box

The Township of Dellona has a drop box for ballots.

The box is available 24/7 at the front door of the town hall.

Absentee ballots and other official materials may be left in the box. Absentee ballots must be received at the polls before the end of the Nov. 3 election.
