Sauk County sees slight decline in coronavirus cases

According to the latest data, Sauk County had 69 active COVID-19 cases as of early Tuesday morning.

That’s six cases lower than the week prior.

Numbers date back to when coronavirus first arrived in the county this past spring.

So far, 512 people have recovered, which is 11 more than the week before.

Reedsburg, Cazenovia residents earn academic honors

Two area scholars made the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Superior for the summer.

To qualify, students must complete at least 12 credits and earn a GPA of at least 3.5.

Honorees include Craig Braunschweig of Reedsburg and Christina Hagen of Cazenovia.

Historical Perspective: For whom the bell tolls

This large, brass-colored bell was used for many years as a signal that tolled for the ferryman to indicate someone wanted to cross the Wisconsin River at Merrimac or Okee. The bell, and one like it, were located on either side of the river.

County Board approves appointments, hears latest on Census

The Sauk County Board replaced a supervisor, refilled some committee seats and found out the status of the Census at this month’s regular meeting.

Board supervisors convened last Tuesday night at the county seat in Baraboo. Supervisor Brandon Lohr was absent and thus did not vote.

I love tomatoes, all kinds of tomatoes. Red, yellow, pink, green striped, large slicing ones and little tiny ones I can eat right off the vine. However, to fully enjoy the tomato season, it’s also necessary to know about of tomatoes’ common diseases and pests and be ready to take action.

Sauk County COVID-19 cases drop below 5 percent positive

Sauk County’s positive coronavirus results have fallen below five percent of all tests, which puts the county in the “green” for 14-day progress.

As of Aug. 27, the percent of positive tests was 4.3 percent for the past 14 days, below the five-percent benchmark.
