When Trump ran for president in 2018 most folks only knew about him from ‘The Apprentice’, the TV program that portrayed him as a successful, multi-bllionaire businessman. Unless you were a reader of New York newspapers you had little reason to doubt his capability to run the country and you may have voted for him as a result.

Voters have spoken, Donald Trump is the President-elect. About a third of voters said their main reason for voting for Mr. Trump was they expect him to improve the economy. To know if that happens we must have a good idea of what the economy is doing today.

“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work” (Ecclesiastes 2:24).

It is the time of year to be thankful. For some of us, that is a little harder this year, but we all have many blessings. I am grateful to you for reading this column, whether you agree with me or not. I am thankful, of course, for friends and families, especially in these times in which  society is so divided.

C.K. Chesterton famously said that fairy tales do not tell us that dragons are real; they teach us that dragons can be defeated. As I get older, I’m slightly in awe of just how many dragons need defeating on a daily basis.

I am heartbroken.  What has become of America? I love this country; to me it stands for equality, liberty and justice for all. We are the land of opportunity, offering high quality education that qualifies people to get good jobs and to follow their dreams.

Scientology teaches that people are basically good, that their capabilities are unlimited, and those capabilities can be realized. People can also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability. Scientology claims that the secrets to this higher knowledge can only be found in their church through a process they call “auditing.”

“I Need More faith.” I can’t imagine any honest Christian not saying “Amen” to that statement.
