Letter: Turkey Trot attracts runners of all ages

This past Thanksgiving, the Wonewoc Badgers hosted the return of their annual Turkey Trot, a 5K Run/Walk along with a ¼-mile Fun Run for the kids. Over 180 registrations were collected for the variety of options.

Awards were given as follows:

--¼ Mile Kids Fun Run: Tyler Roloff

--Best Dressed Participant: Krista Nowak

Letter: Group plans to disband

The Reedsburg Old Settlers held a board meeting on December 4th, 2021. As a result of this meeting, the motion was made to disband the organization. The Reedsburg Old Settlers organization will officially disband as of January 31st, 2022.

Poll shows support for civics education in schools

An October poll of Wisconsin newspaper readers shows most favor the idea of required civics classes in schools.

Out of more than 550 respondents, 89 percent said they support a proposal to require civics education in all schools. Six percent said schools should be able to determine their own curriculum, and five percent were unsure.

Nature and Society: What can you give this season?

What would you give Jesus for Christmas if he came by? Warm mittens? (He could probably use them since he was used to much warmer weather in the Middle East!) A fruit cake? (I think that would be a one-way ticket to Purgatory.) A necktie? A cheese hat? Some Packer memorabilia? Some homemade cookies? (No, those are for St. Nicholas.)

Letter: Bakers gave lots for bread sale

Our library and community were definitely on the same page for the Friends of the Reedsburg Library's Grateful Bread Day Sale. It was a very successful event and truly wonderful seeing folks that we hadn't seen for a long time.
