Next Mobile Pantry is Nov. 14

Sacred Heart’s Mobile Pantry will take place Nov. 14 in the VFW parking lot, 200 Veterans Drive.

Distribution will begin at 4 p.m. and continue while supplies last.

This is a drive-through-only event, so stay in your vehicle; volunteers will bring food to place in your trunk.

Anyone who needs food is welcome.

Local municipalities get share of 4th quarter transportation payments

Final transportation aids for 2024 have been announced, and several municipalities in the area are among the recipients.

The State unveiled its fourth-quarter payment from General Transportation Aids, Connecting Highway Aids and Expressway Policing Aids. The amount was more than $138 million.

Reedsburg Area Helping Hands has begun its largest charitable effort of the year.

The nonprofit is conducting its Christmas Mitten Program, which helps children and families in need during the holiday season.

Contributions will be collected through Dec. 3.

Group files claim over Health Care Center sale

A citizens group has brought a claim against the Sauk County Board of Supervisors over the sale of the Sauk County Health Care Center in Reedsburg.

On Sunday, Citizens for the Sauk County Health Care Center announced via social media that its attorney had filed the claim on Oct. 31.

City looks to purchase Lands’ End call center for new library


The Reedsburg Public Library has reached its capacity and needs to look at future expansion. To address the space needs, the City of Reedsburg is looking to purchase the Lands’ End call center. Lands’ End will not go out of business nor be impacted by the sale. It is not yet known what will happen to the current library building once it is vacated. (Reedsburg Independent file photo)

The City of Reedsburg could acquire a new site for the Reedsburg Public Library.

Last week, Common Council met in closed session to discuss parameters for a potential purchase. In open session, it voted to move forward with the process to buy the Lands’ End call center building.
