River Valley musicians and chorus hold “Musicians Unite” concert to benefit Community Food Pantry

On April 20 the combined voices of River Valley Community Chorus and RV High School student musicians held Musicians Unite concert to benefit the Community Food Pantry. $2000 was collected for the food pantry. The Community Chorus performed a lovely short Mozart mass with soloists, and string and organ accompaniment. Then more than twenty RV High School students performed vocal solos and ensembles and trombone, clarinet and trumpet solos. Student performers included Luke Butteris, Caroline Dittmer, Grady Graham, Mollie Maes, Josie Mahoney, Charlotte Stangl, Dave Van Hallgren, Ryan Wittmann, and the RV High School Chamber Ensemble. These students will perform the same works at the upcoming Wisconsin Solo & Ensemble competition. Following the student performances, the community chorus returned to sing a variety of short works, and the finale combined the voices of the RVHS Chamber Ensemble and the RV Community Chorus with the rousing “I Sing Because I’m Happy.” Come and Sing with the RV Community Chorus. They will start summer 2026 rehearsals in late May to prepare for a concert Saturday, August 29 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain under the direction of Brian Zwick. The concert will include the beautiful Sunrise Mass by the contemporary Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo, with string orchestra, plus several other short pieces. The first two rehearsals will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 and Thursday, May 28, with subsequent weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings until the concert weekend. Rehearsals will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Spring Green. All ages welcome and no auditions are required--just come to rehearsal May 21.
